J. Ryan DeJong

_Ryan-DeJong[2]Ryan is the Vice President of Underwriting for the AXIS Group. Ryan specializes in vendor management due diligence and selection as well as underwriting for the team at the Axis Group. He is also licensed by the state of Florida and North Carolina for health and life insurance & annuities.

Axis Group is the nation’s largest PEO Master General Agency (MGA) supporting over 1000 property and casualty (P&C) agents across the country and representing more than 100 PEOs. The AXIS Group specializes in alternative work comp solutions provided through their platform of qualified PEOs and made available to P&C agencies across the country for their risk challenged clients.

Ryan began his career in financial services as an account executive assistant for First Franklin Financial, a Merrill Lynch Company. At this top 5 wholesale mortgage lender, Ryan excelled quickly distinguishing himself as a sales leader. As a result, Ryan was recruited by People’s Choice Home Loans to lead their account executive team in the Michigan and later, the Florida markets. His expertise in customer relationship management and knowledge of creative financing put him on the fast track to sales success becoming one of the top producers in the country.

Community involvement is one of the most important guiding principles of the AXIS Group. Ryan is the Tampa Bay area network leader for the North Carolina State Alumni Association. His work with the Association focuses on bringing University awareness to the local network, growing membership, developing fellowship opportunities, scholarship fundraising and providing community based volunteer opportunities for local NC State Alumni. In 2011, Ryan received the “Dick Bartelt Award” when he was honored as the NC State Alumni Association volunteer of the year. In 2012, Ryan was one of 2 selected among 500,000 active alumni as a NC State Distinguished Young Alumnus for his professional and personal accomplishments and continuing support of NC State, the Wolfpack Club and the Alumni Association.

In addition to devoted service to his alma mater, Ryan also enjoys volunteering with his wife to support local and national charities including the Moffitt Cancer Center, National Brain Tumor Society, American Brain Tumor Association, Brain Tumor Alliance, Children’s Cancer Center, High Hopes in High Heels & Keeping Tampa Bay Beautiful. Ryan is also an active member of the Tampa Bay area running club, Run Tampa who boasts over 400 active members. Ryan enjoys running ~1000 miles annually with the club including many organized races. In 2013, Ryan finished both the Chicago and New Orleans 26.2 Marathons.

Ryan DeJong earned a Bachelor of Science degree with a minor in Economics from North Carolina State University in Raleigh, NC where he also was a member of the Delta Chi fraternity.
